Hi! I’m Zoë.

I've always had an urge to make things. After a few years learning from experienced jewellers in Wellington, I attended the London Jewellery School, graduating with an Advanced Diploma in Silversmithing in 2015.

From my small desk in Te Aro, Wellington I work mostly on bespoke commission pieces and also make small drops of ready to wear and made to order jewellery.

Most of my time day to day is spent working on commissioned pieces. I love working directly with clients to make something unique just for them.

I have made so many unique gifts over the years, from engagement and wedding rings, to push presents, birthday and anniversary gifts, matching friendship rings and earrings for bridesmaids.

It is so special to know that these pieces are going to be worn and loved from the get go, and no doubt be passed down through generations.

I began by learning the traditional methods of jewellery making, and more recently I have loved exploring the possibilities and advantages of new technologies such as CAD and 3D printing.

While I am definitely a fan of rough sketches and arranging stones with blu-tac while brainstorming with my clients, later in the process an accurate CAD drawn design allows my clients to fully envision their bespoke piece before creation.

Matched with my keen eye for detail and the extensive bench skills that I honed early on, by blending modern and traditional processes there are now endless opportunities as to what I can design and create for my clients.

I would love to design a piece just for you or work with you on an existing idea. I am also able to redesign any existing jewellery you may have, and make something new from your pre-loved pieces. Read more information on my commissions process here.

At the centre of Zoë Porter Jewellery is a focus on sustainability and ethical practices.

Environmentally friendly processes are a must wherever possible in my workshop and I source raw materials from local suppliers I know and trust. I use largely recycled metals and ethically sourced diamonds and gemstones.
